James Santiago
Designer / Production Artist
Early Roots
Santiago began his early formal Beaux Artes education at The Art Students League of New York. He later attended Syracuse University, earning his BFA in Illustration. Returning to Syracuse University as an Adjunct Professor in the Master of Fine Arts program where he completed his MFA in Design and Photography with honors.
Building a Foundation
Santiago began his professional design career at Esquire and GQ magazines in New York City. Eventually, the pace of television drew him to begin his vocation as a broadcast designer.
Focused Attention
First as Assistant Art Director at PBS/13 working with Bill Moyers, MacNeil-Lehrer and Dick Cavett. Then at NBC, ABC and numerous video production houses. Working with virtually every network.
Santiago has designed award winning title animations, news and informational graphics and collateral print material in a career spanning several decades.
Recruited by ABC to be the Art Director for Peter Jenning’s World News Tonight. There, working on 20/20, PrimeTime, Good Morning America, Nightline and WNT he and his design team garnered Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards from Print, Communication Arts, The Broadcast Designers Association, Columbia-DuPont, Peabody and The Academy of Arts & Sciences, among others.
Santiago now splits his time between working with W Design and pursuing his fine art career.
